Books

[edit]

I've heard you say you have quite a collection of dog books. Any chance you could list them for us? Vortex 00:51, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I added User:Elf/dog book database and I also included a link to it from my main user page where I say that I have a lot of books about dogs. :-) Enjoy. Don't know how useful it is without ISBNs or detailed descriptions, but it's what I've got. Elf | Talk 21:57, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh wow. This is extremely helpful. All I need is the title and author anyway, I can look for descriptions myself. Many thanks my friend. I shall start searching for these immediately. I'm sure others will appreciate this list as well. :) Vortex 22:19, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also suspect that a lot of these are out of print. And note that I'm not saying how *useful* any individual one is. :-) Anyway, glad I could add cheer to your day. Elf | Talk 22:40, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Oddball Barnstar
I, User:Pedant hereby award you the Oddball barnstar for your creation of the Category Category:Physical activity and dexterity toys on June 14 2005

The Oddball Barnstar is for editors who create ... something that one wouldn't expect to find in more traditional encyclopedias. Please take a moment to see how 'your' category has grown in just over a year. User:Pedant 21:18, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was working on Juggling, and related hard-to-categorise subjects, and your category helped to group some dissimilar things that seemed to need to go together. I'll be likely to add some more things to that category too. Thanks again, and remember even if you don't come around much, your contributions will continue to be both welcome and valued. Long overdue recognition and thanks

[edit]
The Fauna Barnstar
I can imagine few if any people who are more deserving of this recognition than you. Your tireless efforts to date to improve and maintain the quality of the dogs articles has been invaluable to wikipedia, and I hope that you will accept this small token of our appreciation and recognition. I regret to say that it is not in my power to grant what I believe to be a citizen of the United States an official title, but I believe few other people are more deserving of receiving wikipedia's OBF (which is as close as I can approximate OBE). Thank you again for all your extraordinary work. Badbilltucker 15:34, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And, by the way, this is not an effort to prevent you from leaving, if you so desire. I for one would be very sorry to see you leave completely, but can understand how you might view it as the best of a group of bad options. Certainly, no one wants to see your own life hurt because of your efforts here. However, whether you do come back or not, I have no doubt that this little recognition is more than adequately earned. Badbilltucker 16:30, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you replace this with a higher resolution version? It's an attractive picture, and I would like to continue using it in the article, because it looks like the Bay Area poison oak I am so familiar with, but the resolution is much too low. Let me know on my talk page, or better yet, just upload something. Thanks. KP Botany 19:42, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Larger version of LabradorWeaving.jpg?

[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if you have a larger version of LabradorWeaving.jpg; I would like to nominate it for Quality Image on the Commons, but the guidelines require that images be roughly 1600x1200 or larger. grendel|khan 12:42, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sadly, no; I can upload one that's slightly larger, but the camera I used did not take large photos. I probably already covered this with you back in 2007 (I hope), but replying here so I know. Elf | Talk 22:54, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, wrong; that was cropped out of a barely large enough photo, and hence it became the size that it is. Elf | Talk 22:58, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Elf, Found this while surfing the web this morning, I don't know if anything can be done about it since they do have the website name on it, but I wasn't sure if you'd want your photo being used on a list of the most aggressive dogs breeds. A tag has been placed on Revert vandalism requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, image description page, image talk page, mediawiki page, mediawiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, or user talk page from the article space.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. MSU Interview

[edit]

Dear Elf,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talkcontribs) 23:17, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Canine to canidae, etc.

[edit]

Hi Elf, I want to say thank you for your contributions to the Wikipedia. I noticed your excellent comment of January 14, 2006 (!!!!) at Talk:Canine. I arrived because I was disambiguating a recent usage of ambiguous "canine" to "canidae" instead, I believe correctly, in this edit. Funny that 10 years ago you were bemoaning the information lost as disambiguating editors do their damage, which seems very familiar to me. I have recently been participating in the massive disambiguation efforts of wp:DPL and have been seeing damage done by disambiguators sometimes, perhaps especially within wp:DPL's Monthly Disambiguation Challenge. And sometimes I have been bemoaning loss of information by disambiguations done, including yesterday within a requested move at Talk:Paperboy. Interesting to see your concern 10 years ago.

From your note above I gather you were very active during two years up to some point in 2013 and now are not active, but I also see you made an edit in 2015 not too long ago. And I see you have an archive about dog-related discussion from this talk page, so I am going to go ahead and ask you if you can help on a dog-related issue right now:

At the Canine disambiguation page, there is the following hierarchy given:

  • Canidae, domestic dogs, wolves, foxes, jackals, coyotes, and other dog-like mammals
    • Caninae, the sub-family
      • Canis, a genus including dogs, wolves, coyotes, and jackals
        • Dog, the domestic dog

But, it begs the question for me of what is "Caninae, the sub-family", and couldn't that be better explained to help users of the dab page. I wanted to fix that up. Usage of "the sub-family" implies it is the only family within Canidae, which apparently is a family, so I wondered if perhaps it would be correct to revise that to something like "Caninae, the only current family within the order Canidae although there were other now-extinct families", if that was a fair description (apparently it is not, including because Canidae is apparently a family). But the Caninae page is really poor, in my view, or something else is wrong, because it is not even clear that Canis is within Caninae, though it must be if the hierarchy at the dab is correct.

In fact the Caninae article implies Canis is not within it, because it states that

Present-day basal Caninae include:

Maybe the hierarchy changed? And further I note at Canidae that it includes "canini" and "true foxes" (vulpini) which perhaps should be mentioned in the dab hierarchy. I also made this edit at "Canini" which I hope is correct.

Could you help make a modified version of the hierarchy, to be more informative, perhaps something like the following? :

  • Canidae: family of all canids, which include canini (domestic dogs, wolves, jackals, coyotes, and other dog-like mammals) and vulpini (true foxes)
    • Caninae, the sub-family of just canini (is that correct?) which includes several genuses (?)
      • Canis, a genus including dogs, wolves, coyotes, and jackals
        • Dog, the domestic dog
A nice pic by Elf that someone above admired, and i like too. :)
More my speed: where Gustav Stickley invented the Craftsman architecture (on the inside, you can't see it, sorry!)
Another in the same genre: what you can't see is the house's best feature, a quite large span of Tiffany studios stained glass windows! I had an invitation to come back some other time to take pix of that from the inside, but never did. :(

Help! I just wanted to edit the hierarchy at the dab page based on the corresponding articles, to make the dab page more useful. Can you possibly fix it up, and/or let me know how to? It is beyond what I can do, it seems. Editors sometimes say there is "no deadline" to making the Wikipedia perfect, but it would be nice to get this fixed up sooner rather than later, if there is indeed something wrong, IMHO. No problem if you cannot address this. Either way, thank you for your direct contributions plus the moaning which is an indirect one. :) --doncram 21:12, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Responding on your talk page. Elf | Talk 01:56, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, that was quick! Thank you for the encouragement to go ahead, that helps a lot. Okay and then i am not so puzzled any more, having browsed a bit. The fact that Caninae has 3 "basal" genuses(sp?) genera is not what I thought it meant (i incorrectly thot it meant basic? and that the three were being presented possibly as an exclusive list); there's a whole lot more genera including Canis genus within it, as shown in the infobox. It helps to look at the infobox, apparently part of some comprehensive system of them! And whatever the recent "revisions of the subfamily" were (which worried me), they didn't change that. Certainly the Caninae article could/should say a bit more, even just drawing from its genera articles, and i now feel confident enough to go ahead and add to it. I will add the maybe-obvious-to-some but totally necessary statement IMHO that it includes Canis which includes dogs. And Caninae doesn't include the vulpini, it seems to be synonymous to canini, so I can revise the explanation of hierarchy on the dab page, too.
Very funny, your User:Elf#The horrible addiction...and recovery? tabulation is! :) Yikes, I have climbed back up to 223, after dropping pretty far from a peak of a couple years ago, somewhere around 170. It's because I have gotten into the disambiguation task, and even ended up "winning" the August Monthly Dab Challenge (though I promise I tried to do all good edits, and did other good work behind the scenes to help improve the general quality of dabbing going on). Very sick of me. :( Your 3579 is much better. Oh, i see your two very active years were 11 to 9 or so years ago, I don't know how i got the impression it was up to 2013. Congratulations! Thanks again for your complaining and encouragement, both helpful. :) cheers, --doncram 03:28, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Verdix, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page IDE. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:21, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ouch. You are correct, DPL bot. I checked all the others, but this was a last-minute added link and I did not check it. Leaving this here to remind myself in the future. (Maybe.) Elf | Talk 16:35, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm Batreeqah. Elf, thanks for creating Toy poodle!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please translate FROM Chinese to English.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Batreeqah (Talk) (Contribs) 00:58, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, This image was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices, Thank you.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm, that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, amending the {{information}} added by a third party, and by changing the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{media by uploader}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transfered to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:41, 8 August 2016 (UTC) [reply]

Extended confirmed protection

[edit]

Hello, Elf. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:47, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

File source problem with File:MemIwoJima-mem.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:MemIwoJima-mem.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:01, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Has been too long, no idea where it came from back then, except that it was a government image site somewhere where they were for public use. Since it no longer seems to be used anywhere anyway, could certainly be removed if in question. Elf | Talk 05:02, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

[edit]

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

[edit]

Hi Elf.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Aframe has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Zero references, no assertion of WP:CORP notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:FlatAwardRibbons wb.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Stefan2 (talk) 20:19, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:AwardPins wb.jpg.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

  1. the creator of the original work
  2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:19, 7 September 2018 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Your draft article, User:Elf/sandbox/August 30

[edit]

Hello, Elf. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "sandbox/August 30".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. — pythoncoder  (talk | contribs) 22:41, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

[edit]

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:QuickCollarHead wb.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused image with no clear use on the Wiki

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. fuzzy510 (talk) 05:49, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see it's already gone. I agree, after checking, that it's already in Commons. Elf | Talk 23:23, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:15, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Mixed Breed Dog Clubs of America has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. The one cited source falls short of WP:SIGCOV, I can find a number of sources that mention the organisation, one provides a similar amount of information whilst the rest provide significantly, therefore they too fail to provide WP:SIGCOV.

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

[edit]

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

New administrator activity requirement

[edit]

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Checking in

[edit]

Hi, Elf - since you didn't respond to the ping from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dogs#Confirmation request, I thought it best to follow up with a post to see if you are still active on WP:WikiProject Dogs. I'm updating our list of participants and removing those who are no longer active. Please ping if you respond here, or better yet, respond to the ping and let us know if you're still active. Happy editing! Atsme 💬 📧 02:22, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I try very hard to keep my wikipedia activity low these days. Sometimes I look at dog pages that have been edited, sometimes not. So--whatever that means! Elf | Talk 20:10, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Administrative permissions and inactivity reminder

[edit]

Information iconThis is a reminder that established policy provides for removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. You are receiving this annual reminder since you have averaged less than 50 edits per year over the last 5 years.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to reengage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for reengaging with the project are available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to be engaged with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.

Thank you for your past contributions to the project. — JJMC89 bot 00:21, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
